Artist Statement

LEVARE began with a personal experience of loss. After the sudden death of my father’s partner, I became interested in the idea of being in between: between presence and absence, between holding on and letting go. Imagining someone suspended in this state became a form of comfort, as if they had not completely disappeared.

From there, I began exploring weightlessness and levitation, and the desire to become free from what weighs us down. Gradually, this also connected to a broader feeling of displacement: the experience of losing connection with yourself, with others, or with the world around you.

In LEVARE, the floating figure carries these ideas. She hovers somewhere between here and elsewhere, present for a moment, temporarily released from gravity.
